  Colonel Boustead began his career by deserting as a midshipman from the Royal Navy in 1915 in order to serve with the South African Scottish in France. In his long military career he fought against the Red Army in Russia, worked with Orde Wingate and Emperor Haile Selassie during the Ethiopian Campaign of WWII, assulted Everest with the Shipton expedition, won the Army Lightweight boxing championship, and served in Sudan for many years as a district officer. This is a wonderful autobiography of a bygone era.
